Our friends at Ultra8201 are celebrating their 4th Anniversary tonight at the Ghost Room. 4 years is like 15 in “internet years” so everyone should make a point to come out and celebrate and congratulate them on a job well done in covering the Austin music scene over the last several years. Of course no good Austin music blog party would be complete without Austin bands and yours truly will be hitting the stage tonight with the New Roman Times and Politics – two bands we have really enjoyed seeing over the last year.

But wait – there’s more! In between sets, the Red Boys will do a few songs. Yes, they are a couple of young kids rocking out, but it’s not novelty if it makes you dance and they will make you “shake that thang“.

…for more on the event from the Richard, check out today’s interview over on the Austinist.

Jan 28th at the Ghost Room

Our ears were burning today and it just so happened this is the reason why.  The Author’s song “Put it On” provided the audio backdrop to Laurie Gallardo’s Texas Music Matters Austin Music Minute on the Austinist’s Local Music is Sexy show tomorrow at Club DeVille and the Mohawk.  Bonus points for me going the distance with all the proper nouns.

In completely unrelated news, I have now been approached by two people who think that song would be the perfect condom commercial theme song.  I guess there are worse things than people thinking “instant sex” while listening to Put it On.  By the way, that last comment was a heavily edited version of something far more crass.
